What happened to the Provo Easter Egg Hunt?

Many of you may be searching, googling, or, might we say, hunting for information about the 2015 Provo City Easter Egg Hunt. In this post you will find information on why Provo doesn't host an annual Easter Egg Hunt, details of awesome spring events & festivals you can attend in Provo (Get ready to mark your calendars!), and details about other local egg hunts.  

Provo’s Easter Egg Hunt History

For many years Provo City hosted an annual egg hunt at Pioneer Park (the park with a splash pad on Center Street). Just as the event was outgrowing the park, the splash pad construction project started. Our events team did extensive research to review other locations and formats and eventually decided to partner with BYU and do a joint egg hunt on campus. In 2013, we partnered together for Provo's largest egg hunt, numbering near 7,000 people.

In 2014, Provo's participation in the egg hunt was reviewed to assess impact and community value. The egg hunt excluded certain age groups and with a rotating holiday it was often difficult to balance with other major events in the community. With BYU offering a fantastic egg hunt and several other egg hunts popping up in Provo and around the valley, it was time to put efforts and resources into a new event. This event would still focus on the spring time but with a goal of including more of the community while still serving the families who attended the egg hunt in the past. 

Provo Spring Festival [Video]

Spring Festival was formed to introduce local residents and guests to several key areas of Provo's local culture: Food, Art & Music, Outdoor Adventure, Plants & Wildlife, Family Activities, and Wellness. The first year maintained a connection to Easter through giving eggs out at the event and doing Easter crafts. This year we will hold the event on Saturday, April 18, at 4pm, a few weeks after Easter weekend. Get ready to see, hear, taste, and feel the excitement springing to life all around us! Listen to local folk and indie bands, see local artists and photography, dine from your favorite food trucks, taste new drinks, desserts, and dinner, try out dozens of activities, meet local farmers and their animals, visit booths to learn about local hiking, sailing, biking, and gardening, and so much more!

Science Palooza 2014: Video

Take a look at this compilation of Science Palooza in year's past. We've had everything from Coke Explosions to Dino-Vision to Balloon Rockets. This year kids will get their hands on cartesian divers, wild animal, live bugs, liquification science, bee keeping, and much more. Can't wait to see you on March 22.

The Pioneer Day Extravaganza is almost here! The event will be on Saturday, July 23 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at North Park. As we gear up for the event, please enjoy the second episode of Holiday Hunters and watch as they investigate the Pioneer Heritage and attempt to "walk in their shoes". Science Palooza Video

Check out the recap video from the Science Palooza! Eric, one of the RecLeaders was able to talk about the success of the event. We had over 1,000 people attend the event. There were a variety of games, crafts, demonstrations, activities, and live entertainment for all ages! The Science Palooza is one of Provo's fastest growing events.

The Holiday Hunters consist of a team of people who devote their lives to discovering and revealing the magic behind the holidays... In these episodes you will be able to follow along in the Holiday Hunter's journey as they work together and search for traditional holiday symbols including: Santa Clause, Cupid, Father Time, The Great Pumpkin, etc...
