What can Junior Scientists expect to learn at the Science Palooza?
Activities at Science Palooza range from science demonstrations and hands on learning, to take-home projects and interactive museums. Junior scientists will learn about the human body, sound, rocks and minerals, animals, electricity, gasses, and wilderness survival.
What else will there be to do at the event?
Booths and stations all over the event will offer demonstrations, experiments, activities, games, and crafts. These booths are staffed by museum experts, collegiate student scientists, professional scientists, and community volunteer scientists.
Some examples of the booths we have are:
- Sub Zero demonstrating the science of instant ice cream (there will be samples of course)
- BYU Dietetics will showcase the importance of healthy eating through interactive games
- Kids can enter the science game show to win prizes and test their knowledge
- Nicola Tesla room where kids can interact with Neon colors, X-rays, lasers, and electricity
- Mary Anning exhibit to dig for fossils, see dinosaur skeletons, and even take a picture with a dinosaur!
- BYU's Museum of Peoples and Cultures will show us a thermal camera to find artifacts hidden under the ground
- Cookie Excavation where kids will have to excavate the chocolate chips cookies out
- Mini dig box where kids will be able to find fake arrowheads, that they can take home, in a dig box filled with sand!
- Learning through Robotics will be there to show kids the latest technology with robotics!
- The Quarry will show how friction impacts rock climbing
- Did we mention these are just a few of the more than 20 science experiments to try out at this event?!
