Fish Kite Tutorial

The Utah Lake Festival is on Saturday, June 4th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Utah Lake State Park. There will be games, crafts, booths, entertainment, free food, demonstrations, free fishing, and much more! In preparation for the event, here is a step by step tutorial to make a fun and colorful fish kite!

Step 1: Select a sheet of tissue paper and fold it in half "like a hamburger".

Step 2: Glue a strip of card stock on one side your tissue paper. (The card stock will create the fish's mouth.)

Step 3:  Staple the card stock ends together and then glue the tissue paper together to create a tube. (This will be the fish's body.)

Step 4: Then create a tail for your fish by cutting out a triangle.

Step 5: To create the gills for your fish choose another sheet of tissue paper just smaller than the length of the fishes body. Fold in half "like a hamburger".

Step 6: Then cut a semicircle to create the gills.

Step 7: Glue the gills onto your fish along the mouth line.

Step 8: Then glue fins and eyes onto your fish and decorate it however you like.

Step 9: Punch 4 holes around the fishes mouth.

Step 10: Tie yarn or string through each hole and then tie all 4 strings together.

Your kite is now ready to fly!
